Four notes on how the site actually works

Seeds, renderers, third-party requests, and what a palette name does not claim.

Written by this site about itself. There is no byline because there is no reporter.

Crossing at a Dry Cistern, generative plate from seed 992862353Three grids of parallel lines drawn over one another and rotated about the centre: one at zero, one at a small angle between 1.2 and 7.2 degrees, and a third at a negative fraction of that angle in an accent colour. The interference figure is never drawn. It is what your eye does with three grids that do not quite agree. This plate is seed 992862353 in the Akamas Thyme palette. © 2026 artcyp.com

The notes section replaces what was going to be a journal. There is no byline on any of them, because there is no essayist: they are the site describing its own construction.

They cover why a seed rather than a stored picture, why one geometry feeds three renderers, what it costs to make a site that never talks to a third party, and what the palette names and plate titles do not claim.

That last one is the one worth reading if you read only one. The palettes are named for places on the island and the titles are assembled from two word lists, and neither is a statement about a subject. No colour was sampled anywhere and no plate depicts anything.
