Catalogue

It draws all night

Nobody remembers making any of these, because nobody made any of these.

Twelve of the fifteen daily plates arrive between ten at night and four in the morning, when the machine has the place to itself.

Next plate

AC-1921 is due. 22 Oct, 22:00 UTC

The catalogue is holding 921 plates of a possible 1000.

Each plate begins as a single number and ends as something that looks decided. Between those two facts there is no studio, no afternoon, no hand hesitating over where to stop.

Only the unfolding, which happens the same way every time, for anyone who asks, and leaves nothing behind when you look away. Ask whether that counts as art and the plates will not help you. They go on resolving either way.

Fifteen plates a day, and twelve of them between ten at night and four in the morning, when nothing else here wants the machine. At a thousand the room is full, and each new one retires the oldest of the minted plates. The founding forty stay where they are.

On titles, palettes, and what neither of them claims. See the most recent one.

Showing 40 of 921, page 8 of 24.

Reading of Varosha, generative plate from seed 1740643406Streamlines through a fixed vector field. Each of 220 lines starts at a random point and takes 110 steps of five units, turning at every step by the sum of three sinusoids of its current position. A line stops early if it leaves the plate. Roughly one line in seven is drawn in an accent rather than the ink colour, and each is given its own width and opacity. This plate is seed 1740643406 in the Carob palette. © 2026 artcyp.com

Reading of Varosha

Nothing here is a mistake, and nothing here was avoided.

Evidence of Six Terraces, generative plate from seed 3239323846Nine centres, each emitting 34 closed rings whose radius grows as the 0.7 power of the ring index, so the spacing tightens as they widen. Each ring is a thirty-segment polygon pushed off true by a sinusoid whose amplitude grows with the index, and both stroke weight and opacity fall away as the rings get larger. This plate is seed 3239323846 in the Akamas Thyme palette. © 2026 artcyp.com

This is the only version. There were never any others.

Notes on Standing Water, generative plate from seed 2024071679One rectangle divided recursively. At each node the split usually runs across the longer side, at a ratio between 0.3 and 0.7. Division stops at depth eight, below 34 units, or on a 7% chance at any node. Every surviving cell is stroked with an inset, about one in five in an accent, and about one in ten also takes a translucent accent fill. It was not made for you, or for anyone, or on purpose.

Second Akamas, generative plate from seed 294107493Three grids of parallel lines drawn over one another and rotated about the centre: one at zero, one at a small angle between 1.2 and 7.2 degrees, and a third at a negative fraction of that angle in an accent colour. The interference figure is never drawn. It is what your eye does with three grids that do not quite agree. This plate is seed 294107493 in the Buffer Grey palette. © 2026 artcyp.com

Second Akamas

Reading of an Empty Frequency, generative plate from seed 4122607171Forty-six bands stacked from the top down, each one a closed shape lying between two sine curves of differing amplitude, frequency and phase. The bands overlap, because each advances the cursor by only 62% of its own height. About one band in six is filled in an accent at higher opacity than the rest; the stack stops early if it runs past the bottom edge. This plate is seed 4122607171 in the Troodos Pine palette. © 2026 artcyp.com
